How to Backup the System

Computer backup is a way of backing up your entire or specific files on your computer, and they are extremely easy to keep. Computer backup is very useful to retrieving files. However, you accidentally delete or lose a file from your computer.

Backing up computer files regularly is always good idea.
Windows and Mac OS X have built-in backup feature. This is easy for everyone to know, understand and create a computer backup.

Requirements: Empty digital versatile disc (DVD) or USB external hard drive. You can buy them at any electronic stores. Any of the above can be used.

Follow the steps below to back up your computer
1.     Insert the empty digital versatile disc (DVD) into the DVD drive or plug in the USB external hard drive to the USB port.
2.     Windows will ask you by popping up, if you want to use it as a backup. Maybe the pop up did not come out, go to the system “Control Panel” and click on “Backup and Restore”
3.     Select “Back up Now”
4.     The pop up will ask you to select where you want to save your backup such as: DVD RW Drive (D:) or Removable Drive and click on “Next” your computer will also ask you that “what do you want to back up?” Choose your preferred option from the list.

Example of the options:
·        Let Windows Choose (Recommended)
By chosen this option, your windows will back up data files saved on the desktop, Computer Libraries and your default windows folders. All of these will be backed up on a regular schedule.

·        Let me Choose
This option means you want to select files by yourself. The option will take you to another environment where you can select your data files from your computer. Ticking those options means that you want to back up your data files that are located in those areas.

5.     After you have choose most preferred click on “Next” The computer will ask you to review your backup settings and maybe you want to reschedule your backup settings. Note: files that have changed and new files that have been created since your last backup on your computer will be added to your backup according to your backup schedule.
6.     Click on “Save settings and run back up” to complete your backup process.
Wait for your computer to finish backing up your data files on your selected drive.

After backed up, how can I restore my data files back to my computer?
i.        Go to your computer Control Panel.
ii.      Locate and click on “Backup and Restore”
iii.    Click on “Restore”  => “select backup to restore”
iv.   A window will pop up and locate your backed up file from the list and click on “Next” to restore your files easily.
Note: if your backup is not listed, connect the drive with your backup to your computer, and click on “Refresh” to make your backup visible on the list and hit “Next” to complete your restore.
